So here we are: January bound, 2025 hello! This month’s blog is a combo of a few things and topic paragraphs I would like to share with you all. The first being appreciation, as the fast paced western world we tend to live in, some of us if not all, we forget to make a little time to reflect and focus on appreciation in the present moment. I am always having to remind myself to reflect and stop and do this 100%. Second one is Movement. I like this one because I feel it compliments the appreciation paragraph following on. WE (all) of us should appreciate the joy of movement and how we are designed as human beings, to be more conscious, get up and move rather than be sedentary, appreciate we can! Third, positivity, yep good vibes always, my motto ‘whatever the weather, stay positive’, finishing with a positive quote this month and book well being life coach (qualified and certified I am – yes indeed!) recommendation.
Appreciation, all of you are aware I experienced an awful life treating medical complications last Xmas day and into the new year. So I wanted to share what a lovely xmas ‘this’ year it was and NY, to be with my children and partner and be present. It was overwhelming to be fair and I had tears of joys pre tucking into the Turkey roast. As we were all together this year. I equally wanted to say a huge thank you to all of you for staying loyal to me and being patient while my classes were shut down while I was in hospital and in rehabilitation. I appreciate you ‘ALL’. What about you, sit back, take a minute and reflect on something within the last month you find appreciation for. Feel that blanket of love it gives you when you do so.
Movement is important for many reasons, including one’s physical health. Movement helps your body develop properly when you’re young, and can reduce your risk of illness as you age. It can help prevent conditions like heart disease, stroke, osteoporosis, and some cancers. Movement also helps you maintain your strength, stamina, and ability to function properly. Mental health can be improved with movement, can help reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety, and can improve your mood, self-esteem, and focus. Exercise releases endorphins, which can reduce stress and act as a pain reliever. Joint health through movement will help nourish your joints by increasing blood circulation and reducing friction on cartilage. Movement helps you burn calories and raise your metabolism, which can help you manage your weight, so a huge benefit to your weight management wellbeing targets. And let’s not forget the last benefit factor I want to shout out; its social interaction, getting movement within a walking group (5Kwalk&tone.co.uk) or fitness based class, dancing; nightlife, bar or dance club, can help you meet new people and make friends, which can contribute to your happiness and sense of well-being.
Some ways to increase your movement include:
- Setting a timer to remind yourself to move every 30 minutes
- Sitting on the floor instead of a chair
- Using a standing desk
- Taking the stairs instead of the elevator
Summary of physical activity such as moving about the house, doing some stretches or going for a walk helps your body to maintain good joint and muscle mobility and strength, improve circulation, promote bone, ligament and tendon strength, and help prevent major diseases. Movement helps us think, learn, and remember. Helps maintain existing brain structures, helps slow age-related mental decline, helps us recover if our brain is injured or inflamed, lowers oxidative stress, and I always say… ‘anything is something, better than nothing’ so just do what you can each day but keep moving.
Positivity is important because it can improve your physical and mental health, and help you feel happier and more satisfied with life. Benefits of positivity. It clearly gives us better health, Positive people have better immunity and a lower risk of premature death. They may also experience fewer physical ailments like coughs, fatigue, and muscle soreness, fact, mindset!
